Split a receipt by item, without typing a single line
Itemized splitting is the fairest way to share a bill. It used to mean typing every line into an app. Now a photo is enough.

Step by step
- Snap the receipt. Open SplitSlip and take a photo, or pick one from your camera roll. A long receipt can go in as up to three photos.
- Check the lines. SplitSlip lists every item with its price and compares the sum with the subtotal printed on the receipt. If something was misread, you see a warning; tap the pencil to fix it.
- Add yourself and how to pay you. Your name and your Venmo, Cash App or PayPal handle.
- Share the link. Friends open it in their browser. No app, no account.
- Everyone taps their items. Shared dishes split evenly between whoever tapped them.
- Send the totals. Each person sees items + tax + tip and a pay button with the exact amount filled in.
Tricky receipts
"2 × Beer $14"
Lines with a quantity can be split into separate lines, so two people can each claim one beer at $7.
Service charge or delivery fee
Fees are spread in proportion to what each person ordered, like tax. Discounts and coupons work the same way, in reverse.
Someone not on the receipt
Anyone can add their name. People who only had a drink just tap the drink.
Different currency abroad
SplitSlip reads the currency printed on the receipt and shows every share in it.
Why by item beats splitting evenly
On a $180 dinner for four where one person had only a soup, an even split charges them $45 for a $9 bowl. By item, with tax and tip, they pay about $11.50. That gap is why people dread "let's just split it".
